What is a CAN?

A CAN is a Community Action Network, a group that brings people together to build a healthy community.  Communities are strong and vibrant - they emerge from the collaborative efforts of the citizens who live in that community.  These people care about where they live and want their neighbourhoods to be the best they can possibly be.  Community Action Networks provide the resources to make that happen.

Community Action Networks provide a venue where neighbours can join each other, their municipal Councillor and City staff to have an open dialogue and to participate in the strengthening of their communities.

"People have collective needs and concerns.  Instead of saying 'why doesn't the government do something?' when a problem arises, they are as likely to say 'what are we going to do?'"
